Bored?
Wiki Rabbit Holes is a project to compile interesting Wikipedia pages, whether they be macabre, funny or weird, to share with bored and curious minds out there. It’s aim is to keep people interested in learning while recognising that there are some pretty crazy (and sometimes funny) things that have happened in human history.
Wikipedia is an underrated, free source for information and we hope to persuade you that jumping down a Wiki rabbit hole is *slightly* more productive than doom scrolling.
Whether you’re in a boring zoom meeting, awake at 3am, looking for an interesting subject for your assignments, or want to know who the Mayor of Talkeetna was in 1998 (spoiler: it was a cat), you’ll find something that interests you here.
Note: Many articles featured on this website contain disturbing or distressing events involving murder, injury, and/or discrimination. Some articles are not for everyone. NSFW articles are marked ❗where not immediately obvious.

Frequently Asked Questions
🐇 Why the dark theme?
As this project is still new, we’re still playing around with what features to give you. We (the admins) found we are all late night scrollers, using Wikipedia as a can’t-sleep fix. Currently, dark mode caters to those who are doom-scrolling before sleeping. We plan to add a light mode in by the end of 2026.
The green and black theme, and courier font is also a homage to early 2000’s hacker aesthetics.
🐇 Who is this project run by?
A cat who likes to step on keyboarfssssssssssssssssfdsfvfvcbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb,m.
🐇 How can I join the project?
We’re attempting to create the largest repository of interesting Wikipedia articles. You can help by suggesting articles you’ve enjoyed and sharing our posts to get other people involved.
As the project grows we hope to introduce new features like polls, newsletters, and the ability for people to suggest a funny sentence to go with articles. To stay in the loop follow one of our socials.
🐇 Isn’t Wikipedia a bad source for information?
As a community-run, editable information database, Wikipedia is naturally at risk of being incomplete, subject to bias, or lacking key sources. If you’re interested, there’s a Wikipedia page about it: Reliability of Wikipedia.
Wikipedia is also the subject of vandalism, hoaxes, and mass targeted editing, which previously caused pages to be locked. Here’s two rabbit holes to go down:
Here’s our take: bad sources can be good sources if we’re able to critically review information against each other to benefit an argument. Learning about stuff is fun, but don’t be trapped into believing everything you see and hear. Ask yourself where the information is coming from and what kind of person is sharing it.
🐇 Is this Depths of Wikipedia?
Depths of Wikipedia is a social-media account that posts screenshots of Wikipedia articles. Wiki Rabbit Holes was conceptualised and built before knowledge of Depths of Wikipedia. Since Wiki Rabbit Holes also promotes Wikipedia articles on social media, it’s natural we’ll start to look like other accounts out there.
Unlike other social media accounts, this project aims to:
- Move people away from endless scrolling on social media, encouraging learning, sharing, and critical thinking around information
- Make finding articles easy through categorisation
- Present and make people aware of topics that may be censored on social media (eg due to discrimination, nudity, violence)
- Get people to visit Wikipedia itself (and, hopefully support their work)
🐇 How did you find all these articles?
This project started out as an excel sheet of our favourite Wikipedia pages. As it grew and grew we decided to categorise it, which is when we thought why not share it online? Thus, this website was born.
Like us, others have created and shared their own lists:
- The Archive: 500+ of the most interesting Wikipedia articles by Reddit user u/super_radical
- Stuck in Quarantine? Here’s a list of Wikipedia rabbit holes. by Reddit user u/-kelsie
- Sean’s List of All-Time Favorite Wikipedia Articles by Reddit User u/foucault_the_haters
They’re worth checking out, and some of them contain articles not on this website. We did consider using these lists to scour for new content, but ultimately it didn’t feel right to copy their hard work. As it stands wikirabbitholes.com is made up of articles we’ve come across, read and enjoyed, as well as articles shared by you.
